Writing/Reading Objectives: support a clearly stated research question of appropriate focus

50

Writing/Reading Objectives: support a clearly stated research question of appropriate focus (not too broad or too narrow for the assignment), identify potential sources which are current, relevant, accurate and authoritative, accurately present the purpose and argument of potential sources, organize potential sources and clearly identify their relationship to your research question, draft introductory paragraph and thesis statement Sources: Five potential sources from your research As noted in the Draft assignment, these will eventually be slimmed down to just three. By beginning with at least five, you’ll get to identify which sources will make for the most effective selection for your essay. At least one of your five sources should be a peer-reviewed academic article. You may want to choose two, though, as these sources are very complex and it may be useful to work through more than one to identify the best option for your essay.

Instructions: A bibliography is a list of sources used in an essay or other genre of writing, used to attribute credit to those sources. For example, in MLA citation style, the bibliography is referred to as the Works Cited page.
As we’ve through examples of glossing and practicing with the Bartlett article, annotating is a kind of note-taking in response to a source.
An annotated bibliography is a collection of summaries of potential sources. By summarizing potential sources in your own words, you get a snapshot of the first draft of your research essay. This allows you to build intentionality as you move from researching your question of choice, into a building an argument about this question in writing.
For each of your five potential sources, write a minimum ½ page summary. Explain the author’s argument and purpose for writing. Explain how the source passes the CRAAP test, building off of our discussion in class and referring back to the criteria in the list of objectives above. Finally, explain how the source connects to your draft thesis/answer to your research question.
Along with your annotated bibliography, include a draft of your introduction. This should include context about the topic, your research question itself, a brief overview of findings, and your draft thesis/answer to your question.

Research Question : How does the use of Social Media and texting cause an effect on people's literacy in US?

Please use Google Scholar for the research.
Please use the CRAAP test (currency, relevance, accuracy, authority and purpose) to do the Annotated Bibliography.
