Write a case study discussing a case you have been involved in which demonstrates classical ultrasound presentation of right upper quadrant pain.

Assignment Title Students choose their own title for the work. Layout and Headings: The following headings must be used: 

Title  The title should have a maximum of 8-9 words and should include the phrase "case study"

Abstract:  Maximum of 100 words.  One paragraph, unstructured  Include 3-4 keywords

Introduction:  Background to the case, explaining what is particularly interesting about the case chosen 

Case Presentation:  To include patient demographics, relevant background, past medical/surgical history, co-morbidities indications for a scan etc. 

Ultrasound Examination: This section encompasses the actual ultrasound examination and should include

 the objectives of the ultrasound scan

 a review of departmental protocol for specific examination and any deviation from this

 patient position (if relevant),

 representative images (maximum 30 images) (Please note the use of images is not compulsory, but images may be used to enhance your work. If images are incorrectly referenced/labeled, it will result in loss of marks)

 a summary of the equipment used 

Image Analysis  A reflective and evaluative analysis of images (including equipment settings used and how images may have been improved) and image appearances. Refer to images in the previous section 

Discussion  Discussion of sonographic findings and their relation to the case Follow-up  Management, further imaging/tests, outcome (if known) 

Conclusion:  Maximum of 150 words 

Guidelines and Regulations  Images must have patient and hospital names removed  

The word limit is 3,000 words, and a statement of word count must be included on the coursework declaration form. 

The Reference List should not be included in the word count. The Harvard Referencing System must be used. Referencing All referencing of assignments must be in the Harvard Style.

The references are within the past 5 years where possible. Also, please note that images are compulsory.
