You are to turn in a 12-15 page research paper on a specific area within the study of the doctrine of God. You should avoid topics that are extremely broad in their range. Included in your research, you should give a brief synopsis of the history or development of this doctrine (1-2 pages) and an application of this doctrine for the church today (1-2 pages). You will have at least one academic source per page in length. The page length above does not include a title page or the reference page. All formatting questions should be submitted to the most recent edition of the Turabian manual.
*In preparation for the final submission you should submit your work to the following website: http://www.er.uqam.ca/nobel/r21270/textools/web_vp.html. This website will count the percentage of your words that come from the academic word list (AWL). You will be required to have 10% of your paper come from this word list. This procedure is important to ensure that you are preparing yourself for postgraduate studies.
**In order to verify that you have an adequate percentage of your paper you will run the paper through the website counter until you have reached the 10% threshold. Then, when you submit your paper in Blackboard you will note in the comment box what percentage of your paper comes from the AWL. If you have any questions about the AWL words feel free to further explore the list with personal research.
(Use the following template for the completion of this assignment. Delete highlighted material and replace it with your own material)
Proposed Topic:
In one sentence tell the reader what you plan on researching.
Proposed Thesis Statement:
Graduate writing cannot be “A” quality without a thesis statement. The thesis statement provides the destination of the paper. In science we call this the “hypothesis.” It states succinctly what you intend to prove or demonstrate. The topic/title of the paper will tell the reader which direction the essay is heading (N, S, E, or W) and a transition statement tells the reader the steps that will be taken to get to the destination. A strong conclusion cannot be written without a strong thesis statement. The thesis drives the conclusion. If you know beforehand what you are trying to accomplish, then in your conclusion you can tell if you have accomplished this goal or not.
