Termbase Assignment. Translation

Assignment consist of 3 parts:

1- Finding 40 concepts (terms) in any subdomain in biology and compromising full entry. That means that the following information must be included:

• entry term equivalent term in other language
• source of terms (i.e. documents in which they were encountered/from which they were extracted)
• subject area (i.e. the subject domain in which the concept is encountered)
• definition (usually in one language only (English) - since you're defining the concept)
• source of definition (i.e. document from which the definition is quoted or adapted)
• context/contextual example (i.e. example of the term used in context, ideally a usage which also gives some insight into meaning)
• source of context/contextual example (i.e. document from which the contextual example is quoted)
• cross-reference to synonymous terms notes, comments (anything of potential interest for usage)
• grammatical category author of record and date (automatically added by software)

The more sources for the entries, the better. 

2- A conceptual diagram needs to be made of all the concepts used and their relations. (the booklet also explains it)

3- 1500 words long introduction to the term base and it should contain: a discussion about the concepts, types and and the relations between them (Using the 3 types of relationship Generic, partitive, and associative)

You also need to demonstrate how you came to that understanding of relationship through mentioning and evaluating the sources you used. You will be explaining all of this in a clear informative way, it could be a subject area that the professor knows nothing about so theres always a need for explanation. If there’s a something specific on how you designed the termbase (the terms you have chosen), if there’s something tricky and you decided to put it in or not in the term base, you explain more why you made that decision with a justification.

Main important thing is to demonstrate an understanding of what a concept is and how it related to other concepts. Regarding the research that you have done, the professor is looking for your reflection on the way in which this kind of research was carried out, the kind of resources that you have found useful or not and why? so you’re basically evaluating the process of research a little bit. The writer can use any form of resources, the internet and journals.
