Scholarly Critique Paper

In Geriatric patients with healthcare associated infection, how does staff hand washing with soap and water versus alcohol based sanitizer, minimize the transmission of viruses in 1 week period.

Using required readings, discussion content, and published national or organizational guidelines each student will critique an existing protocol or clinical practice guideline.

A. Select a clinical practice protocol published in the peer-reviewed literature or similar mechanism (e.g., AHCPR guidelines, National Guideline Clearing House, Centers for Disease Control, or specialty organizations such as the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, American Association of Critical-Care Nurses) on a topic of interest. Make sure that the protocol or guideline is the original document and not just a brief summary of the protocol or guideline.

B. To write the critique, use the AGREE criteria of high quality guidelines (Box 2, pg 2 of article) The paper will be written according to APA format and will be written in a scholarly manner, following the appropriate template. The paper should be organized, have a logical flow of ideas, and use correct grammar as well as punctuation. The paper will be a minimum of 3 pages and a maximum of 6 pages in length, not including the title page and references, and double-spaced with 12-point font. It is worth 15% of your total grade. Submit the paper to the appropriate Dropbox by the due date found in the Current Course Calendar. Use the following article to construct the paper.
