Respond to Classmate's Response on the Great Awakening

179

This time we will be adding to classmate's response with our own ideas, no quotations and it will be 150 words. Please tell your ideas about the response and add, do not repeat.

Classmate's response; The Great Awakening erupted in the 18th century because the birth of the Church of England made Christianity as the dominant religion and it suppressed the other religion of the people (such as Judaism, Catholicism and Puritanism). Ministers began to worry that the people were becoming to involved in worldly matters, such as caring too much about money, rather than caring about their faith in Jesus. This resulted in the ministers (such as John Edwards) going out and delivering powerful preaches that gave the people listening a revelation that they needed salvation (Links to an external site.) by Jesus Christ (Links to an external site.). The Great Awakening pulled away from hierarchy, and made religion intensely personal to its believers. The Awakening helped people to break out of their suppression and made them realize that their souls are more important. It helped to promote American Independence with its people and freedom of religion.
