Related to one of these themes: Honour, dignity, justice, forgiveness, sacrifice, deception, conflict, evil

1.To be a literary essay based on 2 novels.

2. Approximately 1350 to 1500 words.

3. The novels must be character driven not plot driven.

4. Must be 2 relatively challenging full length novels.

5. One of the novels must be by a Canadian author or be set in Canada. The other novel will be a significant work from any other country. The two novels must reveal similar themes.

6. The essay will make balanced and specific reference to both novels.

7. Modelled upon a 5 paragraph essay but must be written more than 3 body paragraphs therefore minimum 6 paragraphs in length.

8. Contain 3-5 quotations per paragraph.

9. Each body paragraph must have a clear topic sentence which directly connects to the thesis statement.

10. Each body paragraph will follow the point, proof, explanation format.
