1. The essay you submit must be your own work, written in your own words. It means that - - you do not use sentences from others' work, directly or changing some words, or paraphrasing sentence by sentence in a paragraph. If you use expressions that are not considered everyday language, you need to quote.

2. All ideas summarized in your own words also need to be acknowledged through proper referencing (see link to APA style from Lesson 4 handout)

3. In addition to having your statement a part of your essay (Introduction and Conclusion), please include it below the Title as a separate entry: Title Thesis Statement Essay [Introduction Body Conclusion]

4. Essay topic and type should be approved by the Lecturer (topic suggestion and outline submitted as Draft 0)

5. The length of the essay is not the primary concern but it should be roughly 1-2* pages for the draft, and 3-5* pages for the final draft. Technical requirements: Word document; page size A4 with 1'' margin; font Times New Roman pt 12, 1.5 spacing; align text Left. * The first draft should help you focus your writing. The final draft may add data analysis (Lesson 5) or development of the ideas (using more detailed analysis)

6. Proofread and correct the spelling errors (Word will pick up the errors and give you suggestions).

7. At the end of the essay include the version number (N+1 if you made N revisions of the draft) and whether you got comments from another person (classmate, family member, neighbor, etc.)
