People Should Communicate More Face to Face

182

Research a topic and main idea on the elibrary using the research steps and keywords generated in class. Answer some of the following questions in paragraph form to show that you have verified the source's credibility. Use at least one full paragraph for this part.

Who published the source? Is it a university press or a large reputable publisher? Is it from a government agency? Is the source self-published? What is the purpose of the publication? What is the author’s intention? Is the information fact, opinion, or propaganda? Is the author's point of view objective and impartial? Is the language free of emotion-rousing words or bias? Where does the information in the source come from? Does the information appear to be valid and well-researched, or is it questionable and unsupported by evidence? Is there a list of references or works cited? What is the quality of these references? Is the content a first-hand account or is it being retold?

Primary sources are the raw material of the research process; secondary sources are based on primary sources. For part two, write a sample thesis statement about your topic, and include one quote from the original article that influenced your opinion. Then, explain how and why the quote influenced your opinion. This should also be at least one full paragraph. **This is not an essay. It is a one paragraph summary of your evaluation of a single piece of research, and another paragraph that uses one quote to explore or relate to a single main idea or thesis.
