For this assignment, I would like for you to write a 4 to 5 page paper (approximately 1500 - 2000 words) answering the following prompts:
1). You are an owner of a tech company that specializes in dog walking. Your clients go onto their smart phone and request a dog walker when they desire one. You have various employees in all different locations that are able to accommodate the clients request. You specifically have 10 staff members at your San Diego location and have 4,000 independent contractors throughout the continental United States.
As the owner of the company you are responsible for making sure that it runs smoothly and that the business is profitable. Over the last 6 months, you have notice a slight decline in profit for your company due to rival companies such as Zingy coming online. You believe that if you can motivate your employees to work harder that your company will regain its profitability.
1. What leadership style would you take to make this happen? How will you know if you leadership style is effective?
2. What tactics would you implore to motivate your employees to work harder? Would you terminate the least producing member- why or why not?
3. You have 5 managers at your disposal to use to make the change happen. How will you utilize these managers? What would you make them do? Why?
4. What challenges do you have motivating independent contractors? Is there something that you can do to make sure that they are motivated? If so-- what and why?
5. Do you believe this is a prime example for participative leadership or not? Why do you believe this?
6. As a leader we often refer back to what we have learned. Are there any theories that you have learned about that you believe would be applicable in this situation that could help you get to where you want to be? Explain your theory and its applicability.
