Research Question: The inquiry of this topic is guided by the PICOT question: Will internal medicine attending and resident physicians have improved completion rates of advance directives on inpatient units four weeks after receiving an educational program about advance directives (DNI/DNR)?

Hypothesis:

Study Design: the study will use retrospective chart review design.

Setting: the study will take place at an inpatient clinic at Harlem hospital located in New York city

Methods: to test the hypothesis that after providing education intervention to see if the completion rate of advance direction will improve

Subject Selection: At least twenty five (25) internal medicine attending and resident physicians at Harlem hospital center, Manhattan New York

Procedures:

Inclusive criteria: patient more that 18 years of age. Referred to palliative care team

Exclusive Criteria: Not less than 18. Not referred to palliative care team

Data safety

Sample Size: review all charts for patients referred to Palliative care team 2 months; then provide one month of educational intervention; then review all chart for 2 months post intervention, to compare the outcome
