NBST Paper INSTRUCTIONS
You will be required to turn in a research paper on 1 of several topics related to the letter to the Hebrews. A list of possible topics from which you may choose has been provided.

A.    Prepare a term paper on one of the following topics:
1.    Research the authorship of Hebrews.
2.    Discuss the Temple and its implications in Hebrews 9.
3.    Contrast the warning passages in Hebrews 6 and 10.
4.    Discuss the possible options for the recipients and the date of the letter to the Hebrews. Be sure to present an argument for a specific audience and date and to describe how the message of Hebrews relates to the needs of the Christians in that church at that time.
5.    Discuss the author’s comparison of Christ to one of the groups or individuals in the letter—e.g., Christ and the priests, Christ and Melchizedek, Christ and Moses, Christ and Joshua, Christ and the angels.
6.    Research the author’s use of the Old Testament in a specific chapter of Hebrews.

B.    Do an exegetical paper on one of the following passages:

1.    Hebrews 2:1–4
2.    Hebrews 3:7–17
3.    Hebrews 5:1–10
4.    Hebrews 6:1–8
5.    Hebrews 7:1–10
6.    Hebrews 10:11–18
7.    Hebrews 10:19–25
8.    Hebrews 10:26–31
9.    Hebrews 12:1–4

C.    Any other topic MUST be cleared with the instructor before the paper is written.

The paper must be double-spaced, use 12-point Times New Roman font, and contain 1-inch margins. This paper must be at least 10-pages minimum (no more than 15 pages). You must follow current Turabian format (note: Your title page, table of contents, and bibliography do not count as part of the 10-page minimum requirement). This includes cover sheet, footnoting, etc. You will be required to have at least 7 scholarly sources other than the Bible (note: your textbooks, Guthrie, Cockerill, and Bateman count toward this total). Proper citation and use of sources is expected. You will be graded on style and content.
