Make Your Own Film Festival

You are expected to create a program for a global film series consisting of 4-6 works. The project must include a short description of each film and a critical narrative on the subject of your series. The descriptions should contain technical information, country of origin, release date, etc. They should also come with a summary of the film, when applicable. In the critical narrative, you should explore the general topic of your series and discuss how each film fits into your project.

Let’s think of an example.

You have put together a series on contemporary films directed by women, which consists of six works. In your narrative, you should contextualize the works and try to establish relations between them. If you cannot see those relations, you’re probably not creating a cohesive program. You are also not offering a useful narrative. Please remember that there should be a clear logic to your choices. That logic should be based on artistic, political, and/or cultural relevance. Personal preference will not suffice to justify your choices. Evidence of research is required.

The narrative should be 1,800 words long, accompanied by separate 150-word descriptions of each film included in your series. You should provide a framework for the project and explain its relevance. You should also offer a particular perspective and/or thesis on the subject of your project. Citation of at least four sources is expected.
