What are your treatment recommendations?
Miss E. is a 46-year-old woman who works as a nurse. She presented to the clinic with complaints of low back pain. She has had low back pain ever since she started working on an orthopedic unit. Her pain has been persisting, however, for the past 3 weeks. She has been taking ibuprofen 800 mg as needed for pain, but for the last few days, this hasn’t been alleviating her pain. She also complains of Left shoulder pain which happened 3 days ago after turning a “really heavy patient.” She felt that something “snapped,” and her arm “has never been the same.” She reports that it has been especially difficult for her to raise her arm to pick up things from the cupboard, although, she admits that she still has strength in her arm. The pain in her shoulder is worse at night She is inquiring whether you can prescribe “something stronger for her.”
