Health: Interprofessional Education (IPE) Case Study

Study Questions
Taking into consideration your assigned readings, and the Code of Ethics for your profession, reflect on and answer the following questions.
1. How would you describe Pahoua’s and her family’s strengths and needs at this time?
2. What types of goals would you target for Pahoua? What changes need to occur and be in place for Pahoua and Meng to thrive?
3. What additional data are important to collect regarding Pahoua’s situation (and others in this population) and the circumstances surrounding the fall?
4. What would be your role, as a member of your health care profession, in developing a plan of care for Pahoua and Meng, including a discharge plan from home care?
5. What elements of Catholic Social Teaching are most relevant in this case? Does your care plan address those elements? Were you able to fully satisfy all these ethical principles of your profession or does it instead give greater priority to one ethical principle over others? Discuss.
6. Discuss how culture, language and health beliefs influence your integrated approach? What about the role of self-determination?
7. What would you propose as an integrated plan of care? Who would be responsible for carrying out the various parts of the plan? What needs to be done to coordinate care in this home?
8. What larger policy initiatives will help families like Pahoua and promote successful aging in society?
