Cultural depictions and portrayals of South Asians in Bollywood

1. Provide some examples of what is “culture” and discuss some examples of how South Asian culture might be similar or different from any other named culture. Comment on various aspects of South Asian culture as depicted in any of the films we have seen film: (use features like Family, Food, Songs and dances, Clothes, Lifestyle and living, celebrations, etc.) (1 page)
2. According to Bollywood or Hollywood, who is a “good” Indian with respect to being (i) a patriotic, nationalist  (ii) a dutiful wife/mother   (iii) a father ? List and comment with examples from any Bollywood movie. Give your own opinion on whether these characteristics are relevant.(2 pages)
