For your final paper, you should choose two of the authors we have studied this semester and compare or contrast their writing styles, themes, characters, voice, settings, etc. (your choice). You could possibly choose two Imagist poets, two fiction writers of Realism or Regionalism, two writers pursuing the rights of African Americans, two writers of Naturalism, two writers of Southern literature, etc. Decide on the “areas” you will compare or contrast, and be sure to find outside (secondary) sources to support what you are saying.
Be sure to have the following:
~ Introductory paragraph and specific thesis statement. Be sure to highlight your thesis statement.
~ At least four pages worth of content (four pages in length, not including the Works Cited List). You must use proper MLA formatting. Be sure to incorporate a discussion of at least two works by EACH author (total of four works). Make sure to have parenthetical (MLA) citations throughout, and please highlight ALL parenthetical citations (the citation only, not your sentences). Thus, it will look like this:
“Blah, blah, blah, blah…” (Smith 86).
~ A Works Cited List of ALL sources incorporated throughout - at least three secondary sources, plus the stories/poems/plays themselves (primary sources) that you use as textual evidence. Thus, your Works Cited List should be composed of AT LEAST 7 entries
– three secondary (outside sources) plus the four primary sources (works of literature) of your authors. Your Works Cited List should be the last page of your paper, on a page by itself. Thus, if you have four pages of content, your Works Cited List should then be page 5.
~ Copies of all outside (secondary) sources should be submitted as well, not including anything from the textbook. You will submit copies of these (highlighted and labelled) as images embedded within the final pages of your paper document. See the post regarding this within this Module.
Failure to properly cite sources, write on-topic, write using proper grammar/academic standards, or include all necessary parts of this assignment will result in an individual deduction of points per mistake.
