UNIT 7 ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS
Working Thesis: “Since cancer is mostly a lifestyle disease, breast cancer can be prevented, to a large extent, through an adjustment of nutrients, foods, the environment and incorporating a healthy lifestyle.”
Part One (1) – 2 Pages - (I have also attached a sample copy under file name “Sample Doc – Part one” for your reference)
Writers often face the challenge of too many ideas swirling about their heads when they sit down to draft an essay or other document. The swirling ideas can lead to writer’s block or a disorganized draft. This part of the assignment will help you bring order to an argument by using a graphic organizer like those in the WC resource “Graphic Organizers for Invention” (a copy named “Graphic Organizers for Invention” is attached for your reference) or writing an outline (I have also attached a document named “Writing an Outline,” for your reference).
Begin by reviewing the Unit 8 Assignment instructions (I have attached Unit 8 Assignment Instructions for your reference), and then respond to all of the following prompts:
• Post an outline or graphic organizer that captures and organizes at least four ideas for your persuasive essay. Be sure to include the revised thesis statement in your outline or graphic organizer. Also, include at least one misconception or opposition point to your argument that you will need to rebut in the essay.
• Post a draft version of a body paragraph that would be appropriate for your persuasive essay.
Part Two (2) – 1 Page - (I have also attached a sample copy under file name “Sample Doc – Part Two” for your reference)
This part of the assignment gives you an opportunity to post a draft of your introduction paragraph for your persuasive essay
Include all of the following:
• A draft of your introduction paragraph for your persuasive essay using one of the techniques described in the Learning Activities (I have attached the learning activity docs for your reference (File name ending in Part Two Learning Activity 1, 2, 3, etc.))
• A thesis statement as the last sentence of your introduction (Working Thesis above)
• An explanation of what motivated your decisions when writing the introduction, such as why you used a particular technique and the impact you want your introduction to have on your audience.
