English Writing: “The Communist Manifesto” and its relevance in present-day American society

In this essay, we will be discussing one of our readings in the context of modern-day American society.  While the same “best practices” will apply to this assignment that we have learned over the course of the semester—close analysis; mindful, complex essay structure; and a clear and focused argument—this essay also requires that you integrate a structural analysis of your primary text into your rhetorical mode.

Your task is as follows:  Using either Plato’s “The Allegory of the Cave” or Marx’s “The Communist Manifesto” as your primary text, argue for or against your primary text’s relevance in present-day American society.

Your essay must also cite one scholarly, outside source; in addition to closely analyzing all cited evidence, your argument must feature a close structural analysis of your primary text.
