This assignment will be a 500-word essay (single space, 12pt font, Times New Roman).  

The title page, headings, citations, and references will be in APA format. It will include 2 peer-reviewed articles in addition to your textbook (Kirk, S., Gallagher, J., Coleman, M. R., & Anastasiow, N. (2015). Educating Exceptional Children (14th edition). Belmont, CA: Wadsworth Cengage Learning.).

This means you will likely be citing a source in approximately every paragraph or every other paragraph. You are required to put citations from your textbook and each of your articles within your paper at least one time according to APA format. You are required to include your textbook and both of your articles in a reference section at the back of your paper in APA format.

You are required to have a title page with your title, name and date.

You will have the following headings:

- Introduction to the Case,

- Assessment Recommendations,

- Treatment Recommendations,

- Reference Section (you can include your own subheadings if you like, under these headings).
 

Chapter 4: Children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities


A) Write 1 paragraph (100 words MAX) about an imaginary 3-year-old child with IDD.  The child will be entering preschool. 


1)Invent a plausible cause for the IDD.
2)Provide imaginary information about the naturalistic environments in which the child functions everyday (make up information about family and culture).  
3)Give the child 3 strengths and 3 weaknesses across the areas covered by the Information Processing Model (input, processing, output, emotional context and executive functions).  These strengths and weaknesses should match with an IDD profile.

 

B) Write 100 words (MAX) describing 3 assessments you will use. Follow the Information Processing Model closely and make sure you have directly linked each assessment to a specific previously identified weakness or the child.  Make it clear what area of weakness you are assessing with each test.


1) Give examples of informal assessments that you would conduct (collections of the child’s work or observations of behavior).
2) Give an example of a formal assessment (give the specific name of the test you would use).  3) Make sure you assess the context of the child (family, home, school strengths and weaknesses).


C) Write 300 words (MAX) describing 3 treatment options you will suggest to address the child’s weaknesses.  


1) Describe how your treatment options address the 7 key principles of “Working in a Natural Context” on page 75.
2) Include information from two peer-review articles about treatment options recently proven effective for children with IDD.
