Bioterrorism is the unlawful use or threatened use of microorganisms or toxins derived from living organisms to produce death or disease in humans, animals, or plants over short or extended periods of time. The act is intended to create fear and/or intimidate governments or societies in the pursuit of political, religious, or ideological goals.

Contact a healthcare facility in your local area and request a copy of the facility’s disaster plan. Compare this plan with the information presented in Chapter 11 of your textbook. How prepared is this facility in the event of a bioterrorism event? Support your answer.
