1. Explain Aristotle’s account of the virtues, being sure to describe a couple of virtues.  Is his view of what makes a character trait virtuous the correct one?  Are such virtues needed to have a successful life?  Explain why or why not.

2. Describe what the good life is according to Epictetus, specifically how you acquire it.  Do you think he is right (be sure to consider what kind of attitude he wants you to take towards your family members)?  Justify your answer.

3. Explain how Hobbes moves from viewing morality as totally subjective, to arguing that everyone has the same basic moral duties.  Is he correct about what will happen if people don’t follow his idea of justice?  Explain why or why not.

4. Explain the Euthyphro dilemma.  Which side of the dilemma do you think is the correct one, and why?  Explain the concerns raised by the dilemma, and justify your choice by defending it from the objections made against it.

5. What does Aquinas think is the highest good for humans, and why?  Why does he think it is not to love God?  Explain whether or not you think he is correct, and why.
