Alternative Media and Social Movement

This week's readings all elaborate on the specific ways (practices) that  alternative media and/or social justice movements not only challenge dominant power (governments, corporations, dominant media) but construct new imaginaries, identities, alternative structures and organizations, and political remedies for major problems. Select two of the four articles (Lievrouw, Kidd, Milan, Jobin-Leeds & AgitArte) and write 600 words. First, describe the key practices set out by each author. Then, compare and contrast the practices in the two articles you’ve chosen. How do you account for the similarities and differences? What theories help to explain these practices?
